The Mobile Care Assistant should have:- Effective interpersonal/ communication skills
- The ability to work alone and as part of a team
- The potential and willingness to progress further as an employee by undertaking development training, to NVQ level 2
(Job description)
1. PERSONAL CARE
- Basic care of service users in accordance with service users needs, to include all basic hygiene procedures, washing, bathing, care of hair, nails, mouth, feet and shaving. Assistance with dressing and undressing, toileting, care of pressure areas. N.B. Do not attempt to cut toe nails.
- Assistance with continence management, dealing with incontinence, including changing of colostomy and drainage bags and emptying commodes.
- Making and changing of beds/ linen.
- Helping service users with mobility, moving and walking, use of wheelchairs and hoists if necessary.
- Assistance with eating and drinking.
2. DOMESTIC REQUIREMENTS
- Assisting with tasks to maintain cleanliness of service users home including disposal of household refuse.
- Meal and snack preparation.
- Assistance with feeding pets.
4. SOCIAL CARE
- Listen and talk to service users about needs and concerns, encourage social interaction and recreational activities.
5. INDEPENDENCE
- Promote service user independence where possible and assist with household management skills.
6. REPORTING
- Report/ deal with changes in circumstances/ health care requirements to manager/ on call supervisor.
7. MEDICATION
- Assist service users in managing their medication following agreement with GP and manager following our strict medications policy.
8. SAFETY
- Be aware of Health and Safety requirements and to take reasonable care for the safety of service users, self and others. Undertake assessment of risk in service provision in service user’s homes or working environment.
9. DRESS CODE
- Be conscious of own appearance at all times and to wear uniform as necessary. Be punctual and of smart appearance and to carry identification always whilst on duty.
In addition to the above you are required to carry out such other tasks as are required from time to time for the efficient operation of any of the Employer’s business. You are to carry out such additional duties upon request from your line manager who is senior staff or anyone who is authorised to act on their behalf.
